Death is inevitable, and when a loved one passes away, the responsibility of arranging the funeral and burial can be overwhelming—especially for the next of kin.
At UMAC, we are here to support families during this difficult time. We will do our best to assist you with the funeral and burial arrangements and help make the process as seamless as possible, in shaa Allah.
For a death occurring at home, please call 9-1-1 immediately or contact the family doctor of the deceased.

If the deceased left instructions requesting a specific person to lead the Janaaza Salaah, that person should discuss the arrangements with the Imam.

UMAC currently works with other mosques in the Greater Toronto Area to help provide funeral and mortuary services.
Mosques that provide complete funeral services may have male and female volunteers available to assist with washing and shrouding. Additional assistance may sometimes be required from Muslims who are close relatives or close friends of the deceased.
As of March 2023, the approximate total cost of a funeral and burial in the GTA was $6,000–$8,500, including taxes. Costs may vary depending on the services and burial arrangements required.
